Post-Sprint Postcard #003

It’s been a busy few weeks at Kaimerra! We released Ryan’s Wayward Words Minecraft mod and are gearing up to release our Graffiti the Internet browser extension. After that flurry of activity, we’re consciously taking time to reflect and evaluate our experiences with these two projects and tweak our personal and collective workflows. We’re all playing a lot of different roles—at Kaimerra and elsewhere—and having the freedom to pivot and play and experiment here is a gift.

Two of the common refrains in our most recent retrospective meeting were excitement about what we’ve accomplished and readiness to downshift and reflect before sprinting towards another big release. Without a counterpoint to the “move fast, break things” Agile mindset, that tempo has the potential to be exhausting. So we’re taking the time to move slowly, fix things, and find enjoyment in our work.

This week, coinciding with Minecraft’s 1.19 release and in anticipation of BlanketCon this weekend, Ryan is porting Wayward Words over to Fabric so that more folks can easily integrate the mod into their Minecraft adventures.

While Brett is putting final touches on Graffiti the Internet, the rest of the team is pooling braincells, coming up with fun, compelling ways to get the word out. We here at Kaimerra are all patrons of the mysterious and enticing, and want that to be reflected in our work. Stay tuned.

High fives,

Kaimerra.
